Trusting Jesus Christ is what it means to be a Christian. Trusting Him involves accepting His view about the purpose of your life and following His command to love others. This is not a life for those who want to take it easy. It involves humility... sacrifice and diligence. Learning to trust Jesus is a life of adventure full of twists and turns. Just when you think you've got it figured out, you learn there is more going on behind the scenes than you ever thought. In the end you'll discover yourself growing and changing in ways you couldn't have imagined.
It all begins at the cross. The cross is where the depth of God's love is revealed and the joy of salvation is experienced. It's where justice is served, guilt is removed and freedom is granted. It's the place where each of knows for certain that the God who created us will stop at nothing to win us back. It's the place where we learn to trust God and His love for us.
The following Bible study is designed to help you do just that; Trust God and trust His love for you. You'll notice there are blanks to fill in. This is to help you read for yourself the words of the New Testament writers. There words help create a picture of God reaching out to mankind in a desperate situation, needing hope, needing help from the outside. My prayer is that this study will help you understand both the "what" and the "why" of the cross. And that this understanding will motivate you to trust Jesus Christ to teach you about life and living.
The lessons are numbered and work best when completed in order, each lesson building on what was covered in the previous lesson. They are designed for use by individuals and couples as well as small groups. Though many might find their content rather basic, they form the foundation of the Christian faith. My hope is that through them, you might come to understand and believe.
